ATP Cup is a team game but which individuals stood out?

124 players were nominated to represent their country over the course of the inaugural ATP Cup in Perth, Brisbane and Sydney. It is a team game after all but bare from the usual suspects, which individuals stood out? Casper Ruud – Norway Casper has been one of my favourite players to watch come up through the rankings over the last 12 months or so. Even I was surprised by his start to the season but he really took the game to his opponents. His main weapon is his forehand and he was so strong in his wins against Fognini and … Continue reading ATP Cup is a team game but which individuals stood out?

Wimbledon Round 1 – Novak v Philip, Naomi v Poots, Coco v Venus & many more!

Novak Djokovic v Philip Kohlschreiber I suppose opening rounds don’t get tougher than this. Novak will be looking at this one and the first thing that will be on his mind will be the defeat to Kohlschreiber at Indian Wells 6-4 6-4 earlier on this year. The good news for Novak is that since then they have met twice with Novak coming through on both occassions. They did meet at this stage of Wimbledon four years ago with Novak going through in straight sets and I expect Philip to really give him problems but over five sets I only see … Continue reading Wimbledon Round 1 – Novak v Philip, Naomi v Poots, Coco v Venus & many more!

The Masters and Premier draws are always packed and as ever some of the best singles players in the world will also be doubling up this week in Madrid but who is playing? Forget defending title! Every time he steps on court or is seen in Madrid he will be referred to as defending champion.
