The epic Wimbledon final has come at a cost (for tournament directors in Montreal) as the top two in men’s Novák Djokovic and Roger Federer have withdrawn from the Rogers Cup. Four time champion Djokovic who of course won the battle against Federer at Wimbledon has announced he has withdrawn to recover. Federer a two time champion but not since 2006 announced just after Wimbledon he would skip as expected by Montreal. Juan Martin del Potro out with fractured knee cap again!

It is possible we might not see Juan Martin Del Potro again this season. Surgery is needed for the Argentine on his right knee having fractured his knee cap once again. The Argentine had only played in five tournaments this year having recovered from the same injury but a slip on the grass at Queens has once again halted his season.
