It’s been a great day in Birmingham! Rain may have upset play in the last couple of matches but the quality of tennis today at the Edgebaston Priory Club has been exceptional. A day which has seen Julia Georges recover from a set down to win also saw wins for Putintseva, Kristyna Pliskova, Martic and world number one Naomi Osaka who saw off a spirited Maria Sakkari. Maria Sakkari – 7-6 6-3 Kiki Bertens

Second seed Kiki Bertens is out. A first set which was really close will be seen as a missed opportunity for the second seed who saw three set points in the tie breaker but she could not capatalise on the break points winning just 4/11 in the match.
