I’m gutted in all honesty. Kiki Bertens is in the WTA Elite Trophy as the top seed and now there is added pressure to end her season on a high. 75 matches got played between January and late September and having occupied a spot for so long where did it go wrong? Venus Williams will finish 2015 ranked inside the top 10 in the world at number 7 after her title win in Zhuhai at the WTA Elite Trophy to pick up her third title of the year and finish the year with 41 wins on tour. 2015 has been such an incredible win for Venus and there couldn’t have been a much more deserved winner of the tournament than Venus. For the first time on the WTA tour they are running the event called the WTA Elite Trophy where those who missed out on a place in Singapore play a similar event to win what is the final trophy of the year however in my opinion the scheduling of the tournament just doesn’t make any sense at all. The WTA Finals should be the final tournament of the season and the Elite Trophy should be before and not after.
