Who would have said on Monday that we’d get to the Monte Carlo final without; Rafa, Novak, Kei, Thiem, Zverev or Tsitsipas? Well that was the case and following the tournament everyone has plenty to think about going forward Rafa ‘worst clay court match in 14 years’ Well, that says it all! He said it was his worst performance in 14 years when he lost to Fognini. I would say during the course of the week that he looked sharp but rusty and that is expected but he looked lost against Fognini. We see him at his best and his … Continue reading The best have been left with plenty to think about…
The quarter finals are set. It was another day of stunning clay court tennis in Monaco as 16 became 8 as the first clay Masters event of the season delivered once again. Djokovic 6-3 6-0 Fritz A very good performance from Novak, once he got going he really got in the groove and began to impose and look confident on the court. That win previously against Kohlschreiber has done him major favours as he looks ahead to his quarter final match against a difficult Medvedev. Nadal 6-4 6-1 Dimitrov Another good performance from Rafa, backing up his 6-1 6-1 against … Continue reading Thursday in Monte-Carlo; Novak 🤩 Nadal 😏 Medvedev 😎 Thiem, Sascha, Tsitsipas 🤔& Borna 🥳
Except from making the final of Acapulco not much has happened for Alex Zverev. If I’m honest and I were to rank his season so far out of 10 I would say a 4. Over the coming months Alex has over 2500 points to defend on the European clay courts with 1000 of them in Madrid. I couldn’t tell you too much on what Sascha has done and I’ve watched a bit of his this year but had that feeling it’s been alright and that’s about it. He won in London and it’s gone down hill from there. I’m not … Continue reading Kickstart on Clay? Sascha needs to find some consistency!
Sascha Zverev has had his biggest day in his tennis career. Following a routine rout by Novak Djokovic earlier on in the week the German spoke about how he’d been tired for the last two months and that the calendar was too long. Fast forward a few days he see’s off Isner, Federer and Djokovic in straight sets to win the ATP World Tour Finals in London. This was a major surprise, following his comments after his defeat to Novak he sounded defeated but it had the noise of a frustrated player rather than someone who was believing what he … Continue reading Sascha’s best week yet, however it would be unfair to say he ‘must’ win a major in 2019!
Alex Zverev has said he is tired. He has claimed he has felt like it for the last two months and says the calendar is too full, that I agree with but you choose your tournaments. Obviously there are tournaments where you have to play in like Masters and Majors unless you have a very good reason but other tournaments you can prioritise. Last year Zverev finished 2017 participating in 26 events where as this year will end with 23 events but still it’s a little all over the place. As someone who is ranked at number 5 in the … Continue reading Zverev’s right the calendar is full, but you chose your tournaments
Usually a man called Donald Trump takes the daily headlines in Washington but the tennis, the drama, the tears and the rain of the Citi Open made it a day to remember in the famous city. Almost a wash out… Every year without fail it rains in Washington and tennis gods gave way around 10:30pm BST last night when play began which is 2:30pm in Washington however it did mean late starts and finishes of 3 am local time with some players including Andy Murray being very vocal about this and are considering not playing today. Over time! Noah Rubin, … Continue reading A day to remember in Washington 💪🏻😭🌧🎾
The first week is coming to a close. The seeds continue to fall and the shocks continue to happen but what were the stories from Day 5? Serena battles! Kiki Mladenovic at 5-4 was serving for the first set but there was a moment when she did stumble when running to the ball and jarred her leg. Serena in true Serena style fought back to the take the set 7-5. The second was closer and Kiki did keep up the pressure but when it reached 6-6 and it was time for the tie-break the former champion pulled out her experience … Continue reading Wimbledon 🎾 Day 5 – Federer & Serena win 🐐 Keys unlocked 🔑 Pliskova survives 😳 Kiki in 👍🏻 & Kiki out 👎🏻
