Her best performance of the season. It’s a weird one as world number one is on the line and she will get it if she wins in Miami but it wouldn’t be the end of the world if she didn’t win here despite what she has done so far as it would set her up for a great clay season. Today’s performance was very good! She stood strong on the baseline, moved incredibly well covering the court superbly well and her ground strokes were impeccable! Have a look at this one… You have to see it to believe it! 👀@Simona_Halep#MiamiOpen … Continue reading Relentless Halep advances in Miami
24 hours ago I would have said Simona Halep looked on the ropes following her win against Hercog but the Romanian has delivered her best performance of the week when it matters. Earlier on in the week I said that she needed to get out of second gear, she didn’t really do that yesterday and her movement yesterday was lacking big time but today was like another player. She moved around that court with elegance and that meant one thing she managed to get her forehand and backhand firing with confidence, pace and she hit it soo flat it caused … Continue reading Simona Halep; 6-3 6-3 ✅ Forehand ✅ Movement ✅ Serve ✅ Knee 🤔
You can question her form but never question her determination or commitment. Simona Halep showed us once again why she is in the frame to be world number one again with a fair from vintage performance but a vintage Halep gritty and stubborn win. Halep struggled pretty early on with the rhythm of the match, she changed racket and fell down a break she just couldn’t recover from. To add to the issues for the Romanian she had a slight knee issue as well which required taping up and it was haltering her movement. The second set more questions were … Continue reading Vintage? No, Determined? Yes! Halep grinds out an important win in Miami!
Watching back Simona Halep’s performance against Taylor Townsend I described it as clean. There was one game in the second set at 2-1 where it did get messy being broken to love but the performance was good but it needs to be better. I’ve watched Halep for 6/7 years and it has been one hell of a journey to this part of her career now and this next step is interesting. In about 6 weeks time she will go and begin her Roland Garros defence, Darren Cahill isn’t there now and she now has a former coach Daniel Dobre back … Continue reading Halep 6-1 6-3; clean performance, needs to get out of second gear and find some bite!
World number one Simona Halep is out of Miami. The Romanian ran into Agnieszka Radwanska who since her big week in Singapore in 2016 has not delivered. As a WTA Finals champion, 20 time singles champion and former Wimbledon finalist she knows how to perform on the biggest stages just a shame that she hasn’t taken her game to that next level since Singapore in 2016 and last year her ranking tumbled and it became the first time in her career she finished the year without a top 10 win! Halep started the better she began to find the forehand … Continue reading Aga 3-6 6-2 6-3 Halep – Aga shows her best as Halep falters again!
For the first time this year Simona Halep has won back to back matches. The world number five has struggled to find momentum this year but in Miami she has started to find some form and was very impressive against Anett Kontaveit last night. 6-3 6-0 is a pretty routine score-line but during the first seven games of the match it was very close and Anett was producing some stunning shots off the forehand and backhand wing but Halep became more stubborn as the match went on and it was like playing against a brick wall which is the Halep … Continue reading Halep finding form in Miami and why the backhand still might need some work!
