Routine victory for Simona Halep despite a late test from Harriet Dart!

Simona Halep is at it again. A comprehensive straight sets win against Jennifer Brady despite some stubbornness from the American resulted in a perfect start for the Romanian who once again turned on the burners to see off Britain’s Harriet Dart. Harriet is the last Brit standing having been the last to qualify having been the only player to have come through qualifying. As I said the other day, Simona Halep just looks in the groove right now. There was a moment towards the end of the match where at 5-2 there was a slight wobble but credit to Harriet … Continue reading Routine victory for Simona Halep despite a late test from Harriet Dart!

How good? Very good! Simona Halep powers through to round two !

I said in my preview for the tournament that Simona Halep is a player who you will find out if she has a genuine chance of winning in Melbourne as the tournament progresses. On paper the American Jennifer Brady would cause some issues having seen off Ash Barty and Maria Sharapova in Brisbane and she certainly did that. Brady got ahead with an immediate break of serve and did a very credible job hanging onto that lead she had. At the same time despite going down an early break I thought Simona Halep played absolutely fantastic throughout the match. It … Continue reading How good? Very good! Simona Halep adds a new name to her coaching team!

Simona Halep’s coaching team for 2020 has had another name added to the hat. Just a couple of months ago it was announced that Darren Cahill was rejoining the team for the 2020 season. Darren took a break at the end of 2018 to spend more time with his family and media commitments but was around Halep’s team at the majors. As preparations for the 2020 season begin the duo are back in action on the practice court but with a couple of changes. Daniel Dobre who came back into the team earlier into the year has left as it … Continue reading Simona Halep adds a new name to her coaching team!

WTA Finals Day 6; 3 out of 3 for Svitolina ✅ Extra money 💰 Kenin provided a test 👍🏻Halep & Pliskova play out a bonkers match! 🤯

No withdrawals or injuries today but good grief I need a lie down after today’s tennis. We now have our semi-finals confirmed for Saturday. Elina Svitolina will take on Belinda Bencic as we know and Ash Barty will get Karolina Pliskova but first what the hell happened today? Elina Svitolina made it three out of three and if you were to ask me at the beginning of the week who would get through to the semi-finals unscathed I wouldn’t have had the Ukrainian down as that person but she has pleasantly surprised us all. Sofia Kenin can walk away with … Continue reading WTA Finals Day 6; 3 out of 3 for Svitolina ✅ Extra money 💰 Kenin provided a test 👍🏻Halep & Pliskova play out a bonkers match! 🤯

WTA Finals Day 4; Bianca retires but could still play ❓Svitolina qualifiers ✅ Halep & Pliskova set for Friday shootout! 👀

Day four was the second day of action for purple group and it gave us our first semi-finalist of 2019. Defending champion Elina Svitolina is safely through to the round two extending her run of wins to eight in a row at the WTA Finals which is a remarkable effort from the Ukrainian. She has turned up and turned the tennis on this week, it has been faultless and gutsy. She came into this with a bit of a point to prove in my opinion having not done so well against the best this year and my god she has … Continue reading WTA Finals Day 4; Bianca retires but could still play ❓Svitolina qualifiers ✅ Halep & Pliskova set for Friday shootout! 👀
